Deadline approaches for AAEA’s 2025 Juried Online Show

The Academy seeks high-quality equine artwork with a diversity of style and subject matter

The American Academy of Equine Art is looking to assemble the “finest display of equine artwork” for its 2025 Juried Online Show. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings, drawings and sculptures of the highest quality, with an emphasis on diversity in style and subject matter.

The deadline for entries is midnight October 26, 2025. **Entry fees paid by check must be accompanied by a printed Pay by Check form* and postmarked no later than October 26, 2025.

General information

The juried online show is open to all members and non-members. Entry forms, JPEG images and mailed payment must be received or postmarked by midnight, Sunday, October 26, 2025. 

Artwork of original concept and design only

Each submission must be originally conceived from the artist’s own reference, own drawing and must have been self-painted; no digital or AI artwork will be accepted. No direct copies or derivatives of stock images, historic photos or any reference you do not hold the copyright to are allowed. No workshop pieces.

  • 2D Entries must have been painted in the last 3 years and not have been accepted into any previous AAEA exhibit.
  • Sculptures must have been created in the last 5 years and not accepted into any previous AAEA Exhibit.
  • Maximum entries: three (3).
  • The artist retains the copyright to his/her image(s). However, accepted images do become part of AAEA on-ine exhibit archives and may be used for future AAEA event promotions.
  • Participating artists must be 18 years of age or older and currently living in North America.
  • Artwork does not have to be for sale and may be marked NFS or Private Collection. Works for sale are encouraged and will be the responsibility of the artist. A contact link will be provided on the website for all artists’ works.
  • Notification will be emailed on or about November 23, 2025.
  • Read this entire prospectus carefully. Any piece that does not meet all entry criteria will be automatically rejected, and the entry fee will not be refunded. This includes any artwork that is a duplicated entry from past AAEA exhibits.

Entry Information

Eligibility: This competition is open to all artists 18 and up who live in North America.
Online Submissions Deadline: Midnight October 26, 2025.
Electronic applications and JPEG(s) must be completed and submitted on-line using the link provided. Payments can be made on-line or by mailing a check.
JPEG image(s) must be titled with LAST NAME, FIRST INITIAL and TITLE OF WORK before downloading image. 
JPEG Images must be between 1400 and 4000 pixels at the largest dimension, 72 dpi and must not exceed 10MB. Failure to stay within these perimeters may eliminate the artwork for further review.

Entry Fee
Members‘ electronic jurying fee is $25.00 (USD) for up to three (3) entries. Non-members‘ electronic jurying fee is $35.00 (USD) for up to three (3) entries.
Payment can be made by PayPal or Credit card (by selecting that option) or pay by Check* by selecting that option at the bottom of the entry form. 

*Entry fees paid by check must be accompanied by a printed Pay by Check form* and postmarked no later than October 26, 2025. Please mail them to:

ELSE TUCKERMAN M.A.: Excellence in Classic Equine Portraiture (2D or 3D) $300

SAM SAVITT M.A.: “Depicting the Horse in Active Endeavor” (i.e. “Action”) (2D or 3D) $300 +Drawing Horses by Sam Savitt.

ALEXANDER MACKAY-SMITH M.A.: “Depiction of the Sport of Fox Hunting” $300

AAEA MERIT AWARD, WESTERN SUBJECT: $250

AAEA SPORTING ART AWARD: “Depicting the Horse in Sport” (2D or 3D) $300

RUTH E. ROBINS M.A.: Best Equine Subject in watercolor, gouache, etc. $300

NOTE: For prizes to be awarded there must be at least five entries in a category.

The American Academy of Equine Art Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting and sharing representational art that celebrates the horse in sport and life. It also offers hands-on instruction from practicing equine artists with a goal of fostering artistic excellence in the genre.
