July 27, 2006 — As a result of a rebate program for their popular Equine Senior Feed, Purina Mills distributed a total of $6,165 to the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and its Member Centers. Of that total, $2,148.50 was distributed directly to participating NARHA Member Centers around the country.
Purina Mills launched the rebate program for Equine Senior Feed in 2005 with a deadline of February 2006. For every five bags of Equine Senior a center purchased, they were encouraged to return to Purina Mills a form and UPC codes from the bags of feed. In-turn, Purina Mills sent NARHA a check for $15. NARHA retained half of the funds and distributed half to the designated centers.
There was also an aspect of the national rebate program that allowed individuals to generously designate their full rebate amount to be earmarked for use by NARHA.
NARHA Executive Director Sheila Kemper Dietrich said, “Purina Mills has been a long-time supporter and giving friend of NARHA. We are immensely grateful for Purina Mills having conceived of this innovative fundraising effort. It has been a great success for this special organization and its member centers.”
Fifty-eight NARHA Centers participated in the program and checks were distributed back to those centers in amounts ranging from $7 to $315.
