Useful barn supplies don’t always have big price tags. On your next to trip your local Dollar Store or discount retailer, keep an eye out for everyday household items that can be put to good use at the barn. Start with our list, then see what else you can find!

1. A long-handled toilet scrub brush for cleaning water buckets and troughs
2. A slotted litter scoop for removing debris from water troughs
3. An extra-large mesh laundry (utility) bag for toting dirty saddle pads, towels or wraps to the laundromat
4. A short-bristled broom for sweeping out your feed room, tack room or trailer.
5. A pack of bungee cords for a variety of uses
6. Spray bottles for applying everything from fly repellent to coat conditioner.  
7. Small caddy for keeping grooming or bathing supplies close at hand.
8. A small dry erase board for posting instructions or providing updates.
9. An eight-pocket shoe holder for organizing brushes and other grooming tools.
10. A box of disposable gloves to protect your hands.
11. A hairbrush to detangle manes and tails (or for scratching itchy withers).
12. An pair of scissors for cutting twine, feed bags or adhesive wrap.
13. An expandable 10-peg wall rack for hanging towels and rags. 
14. A flashlight for working in dark hay lofts or other windowless areas. (Also consider picking up a pack of batteries.)
