January 19, 2009 — EQUUS magazine recently received the United States Equestrian Federation’s (USEF) 2008 Pegasus Award for Equestrian Publication of the Year. In addition, the magazine won the Daniel P. Lenehan Memorial Trophy for Overall Excellence in Media.
The Pegasus Awards recognize media excellence in the promotion and examination of equestrian sport. EQUUS, owned by Source Interlink Companies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SORC), was praised for its broad appeal, quality content, art direction and overall presentation. The magazine has won the publication title numerous times, most recently in 2006 and 2005.
“This is a wonderful honor,” said EQUUS Editor Laurie Prinz. “EQUUS draws its strength from the dynamism of the horse industry and the passion of horse people. It means so much to be honored by our peers.” The national governing body of equestrian sport in the United States, USEF has more than 94,000 members.
The awards were presented on January 17 by USEF President David O’Connor during the organization’s annual meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio. “A standout in quality production values, well-edited text and strong attention to detail in its approach to layout and executing its design, [EQUUS] has set a standard that many magazines aspire to emulate,” said O’Connor at the awards ceremony. “This publication devotes itself to a tricky task–finding a way to successfully cover the amazing variety of equestrian disciplines within the English and Western worlds. This publication isn’t shy of aiming big, and most often, succeeds solidly in achieving its many goals. It knows its audience and meets its needs, anticipates its wants and delivers on them consistently.”
