A short story contest for young, horse-crazy authors

The Wild Beauty Foundation launches 2021 “Wild Horse” creative writing competition; submissions close on September 30.

The Wild Beauty Foundation has announced its inaugural short story competition for middle grade and high school students, in which equine-loving celebrities will read aloud the stories of finalists and winners on social media.

Children between the ages of 10 and 13, and teens between the ages of 14 and 18 are invited to submit an original short story with the theme of “wild horses” to The Wild Beauty Foundation. Judges include Black Beauty’s Ashley Avis, former Dreamworks executive Rick Rekedal, and author Terri Farley of The Phantom Stallion series among exciting others. Submissions close on September 30th, 2021.

Winners and finalists will be selected in October. Participating celebrities include some of the cast of Disney’s Black Beauty! Prizes for winners will be equestrian themed gift boxes by LaLa Horse, a pair of Blundstone boots, and more.

The goal of the 2021 WBF short story contest is to create awareness for wild horses, while educating the next generation to raise their voices to help protect them.

Children under 13 require parental consent to enter. Participants can submit their stories directly to The Wild Beauty Foundation by visiting the link below.
