The sprawling new Farnam Arena at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa is officially open.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Farnam Arena, a more than 40,000 square-foot covered outdoor arena at the grounds of the casino and equestrian center in Las Vegas. Officials say the Farnam Arena, which is the South Point’s fourth arena, is the largest equine competition area on the complex.

South Point Arena & Equestrian Center General Manager Steve Stallworth led the ceremony, which include several remarks from other speakers. They welcomed the arena with a champagne toast.
“We have been fortunate to host some of the largest and most prestigious equestrian events in the country, and the addition of Farnam Arena will allow our events to grow even more,” Stallworth said during the ceremony. “Thank you to Farnam. We could not have done this without you and your support, and we look forward to a long, long relationship.”
The South Point is the home of several large horse shows in the Western performance horse industry, including National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) premier events, large reinings like the High Roller Reining Classic and The Run For A Million and big cuttings including the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association Derby and the recently completed Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association Futurity.
Additional attendees at the ceremony included South Point owners Michael and Paula Gaughan; South Point General Manager Ryan Growney a well as Farnam executives Stash Easton, Martha Lefebvre and Ron Akre.
