When maple leaves are a threat

Wilted leaves from fallen maple branches and those that natural fall from trees in autumn, can be toxic to horses.

Maple trees are popular for landscaping in many areas of North America and especially in the Northeast. But horse keepers are wise to remember that some maple species have a sinister side—if a horses ingests their fallen, wilted or dried leaves they can become seriously ill and even die.
