BLM’s Nevada Wild Horse Roundup Set for Monday; Federal Judge Declines to Stop the Calico Gather

by Fran Jurga | 24 December 2009 | The Jurga Report at Equisearch.com

A lawsuit filed to stop the planned roundup more than 3000 of Nevada’s wild horses this winter has not succeeded in a federal court in Washington D.C. The New York Times is reporting this morning that the so-called Calico Roundup is scheduled to begin on Monday, as planned.

However, according to an article posted on the Animal Law Coalition web site, the judge advised against the roundup, but failed to legally stop it.

Wild horse advocates will now turn their pressure on the White House, and attempt to convince President Obama to directly intercede.

For more information, please read the summaries posted on the Animal Law Coalition web site and the BLM’s Calico Gather web page.
