Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia, will present two webinars for horse owners and aficionados on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public, but attendees must register at https://aimsbbis.vt.edu/EMC-Open-House-2020.
Hosted by center director Michael Erskine, each session will feature a video tour of the hospital, during which faculty and staff will outline exciting plans for the future; glimpses of the center’s equine patients; and a faculty presentation.
For the Nov. 10 session, Elizabeth MacDonald, clinical instructor in equine medicine, will present “Colic Prevention and Treatment,” discussing treatment options and management strategies to reduce incidences of colic.
For the Nov. 12 session, Maureen Kelleher, clinical assistant professor of sports medicine and surgery, will present “Physical Therapy for Horses,” reviewing physical, exercise, and manual therapies that can be implemented as part of recovery from an injury or to prevent injury from occurring.
A Q&A period will follow each session; participants are encouraged bring questions.
