Pink Lipizzaners? Breast Cancer Awareness Tour Comes to Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria

Singer Olivia Newton-John has been looking at menus featuring schnitzel and sachertorte in Austria, which has been enlivened for the past few weeks by the country’s Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Tour.

And you know that if stars are worth their keep, she must have thought to suggest that the most perfect publicity stunt for the tour would be if the lilly white Lipizzaner stallions of the Spanish Riding School could somehow turn pink for a day or two.

Newton-John and a roster of celebrities toured the country and encouraged women to get preventative testing done to avoild breast cancer. Newton-John’s schedule called for a brief stop at the Spanish Riding School stables in Vienna, but she ended up staying much longer, once she made some friends in the stable.

Newton-John is a breast cancer survivor. In the USA, the entire month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
